Gumdo

Gum-Do (also known as “Kum-Do”) is a martial art that developed over many years in Korea and surrounding countries.

The art is recognized by distinct uses of the sword in offensive and defensive movements that demonstrate the skill and concentration of the practitioner.

Studying Gum-Do offers students many mental and physical benefits. It is known to improve concentration, reduce stress, and increase levels of relaxation for better work and study habits. Among the physical benefits are improved reflexes, flexibility, coordination, strength and athletic performance. The most important benefits are increased self-confidence and self discipline, helping students develop positive attitudes toward life.

Our Gum-Do program is second to none. Utilizing a proven belt rank structure, innovative forms practice, padded weapon sparring, candle extinguishing, cutting practice (Black Belt ranks only); our classes are sure to keep you entertained and challenged.

The three most important factors in learning Gum-Do are speed, power and timing. The good news is that these terms are relative and the curriculum of our Gum-Do program is such that it tailors itself to the needs and abilities of the student.

Gum-Do is perfect for people who may not want what is typically offered in most martial arts which is kicking, punching, and throwing.
